Cheerson’s CX-10 was the world’s smallest quad-copter measuring . Costing around $16, it became a best selling product. Also, due to its small size, it allowed users to fly it indoors.

Now, there is another variant of it dubbed as Cheerson CX-10A which now comes with headless mode for more easy control. It is the most recommended drone for the beginners. So, let us find out why it is most recommended and how good it is in this review.

The Cheerson CX-10 is supplied in a small box. The package contains following:

  • Cheerson CX-10A
  • USB charger cable
  • Controller
  • Spare propellers (4)
  • Instruction manual

Build and Design

When I opened the box, I was surprised with its size. It was tiny. I was expecting it to be small, but not this much small.

Considering the cost of about $17-$18, I wasn’t expecting much with the build quality. But, it turned out to be pretty good. It is made up of good quality plastic.

Even after crashing the quad-copter for dozens of time, there was no damage to the its chassis. The propellers are also of good quality. My first propeller broke after like crashing 14 or 15 times, which is good as they are rotating at very high RPM.

The controller included, which comes in the package is also small. One thing I don’t get is why companies include a small sized controller with a small sized quad-copter.

Even with the small sized controller, there was no problem in holding and controlling. Other than the two sticks, there are buttons for forward & backward trimming and left & right trimming.

Flight & Control

The Cheerson CX-10A comes with three flight modes – junior mode, expert mode and headless mode.

The junior mode has limited re-activity. If this is the first time you are using a quad-copter, then this is the mode you should start with. The expert mode has maximum re-activity.

The headless mode allows user to control the direction of the drone based on the direction of the controller and regardless of the direction of drone. The feature is very useful for the beginners.

To start the flight, you need to follow a procedure. First start the quad-copter and then the controller. When you start the controller and the drone is ON, you will hear beep sound.

Then, you need to move throttle in the upper direction. You will hear a beep sound. Then, you need to bring the throttle down and when you hear a beep sound, it means that controller has been paired with the quad-copter.

It is very stable. There is no oscillation during flight. It is flying with a bit of noise, similar to a mosquito. Flying a quad-copter requires a little practice but this CX-10A s quite easy to control.

On rare occasions, the drone looses control and the motors keeps on spinning wildly. The only way to stop this is to switch off the drone manually.

The device comes with a small 100mAh 3.7v battery. It can provide flight time of about 5-6 minutes. The charging time of the battery is not much. It takes about 15 minutes to get fully charged.

You will have to be careful while attaching the charging cable to the socket on drone. There are chances that you may break it if you apply too much force or are not careful.

It is well designed and well balanced. Its performance is also very well. It is difficult to find any defect in it, especially considering its price. Its perfect for indoor flights.
